The Chaconne Orchestra is comprised of first-year/beginner students in the program. Students in this orchestra will focus on learning the fundamental skills of stringed instrument playing, as well as develop a fundamental knowledge of music theory. The Chaconne Orchestra will participate in non-contest performance opportunities with the other orchestras during the Fall and Spring, and may have the opportunity to participate in May festival.
Chamber (7th grade)
The Chamber Orchestra consists of intermediate students, generally in the 7th grade. In this ensemble, students will take the fundamental skills learned in their first year and continue to improve and expand their skills as players. More difficult music will be performed, and new and more challenging techniques will be introduced as the ensemble progresses. Students in this ensemble are highly encouraged to participate in extra activities such as All-City, All-Region, and Solo and Ensemble.
Symphony (8th grade)
The Symphony Orchestra at Wilkinson is made up of the school's most advanced players. Students in this ensemble will demonstrate maturing musical skill, as well as the dedication and responsibility that is necessary to perform challenging and difficult music. Students in this orchestra are also expected to go above and beyond by auditioning for All-City, and All-Region, as well as participating in the annual Solo and Ensemble Festival.
